Lunch @ Excapade Sushi (Kuala Belait) Brunei Darussalam

Kuala Belait is a town located in South-West of Brunei. It is the second largest town in the country, after Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei and functions as the administrative city for the Belait District.
When you see this big tea pot in the round about, you know your in the Belait district already.

One of the branch for Excapade sushi situated at Kuala Belait, from Miri to here is just 2 hours car drive. Before you come to this place, it will be advisable that you called and make a reservation first.

A total of Brunei $48.00. Is cheap, and the food are fresh. We all like it, except mum she don't likes to eat raw fish.

The scene that I first walk into Jonker street, so many people in a queue. And this is the famous Hai Nan chicken rice ball in Melacca.

DSC_0106wtmk

This place is very easy to spot, cause its just next to the fountain of the Admiral Cheng He's Ship.

DSC_0113wtmk

Surprisingly its still hot when I ate it, and each place has 5 balls of chicken rice. Its kinda wired when I tried to eat it, cause normally I will pour the chicken soup on the rice to mix them together, but this one after I pour, it cannot penetrate into the chicken rice balls.

DSC_0114wtmk

two thumbs up for this one. The shop does not provide any spoon, only chopstick. And I just hold the whole plate and pour the soup into my plate of rice.

2 Days Bintulu Trip

DSC02719wtmk
Each time I only get to transit at the Bintulu airport, but this time is my first time to visit the Bintulu Town. I follow my friends at the charity society here for a short 2 days 1 night trip, and to attend a charity dinner. Bintulu is famous for the oil and gas industry here, and it also the only division which has the flight academic school here. So who wants to be a pilot, they can come here to learn to fly. When we reach Bintulu, it was meeting the whole day. I don't have any time to actually go around the Bintulu town, and took photo :(

My friend bring us to a restaurant, and ordered a famous dish. Is the fish, they cook it by warp the fish with aluminium foil, and put lots of salt inside, and steam it. That restaurant is the only one who can make such dish, and is very tasty (according to my friend). All the fish are kept inside a fish tank, and there are a lot of fishes in that tank. I feel so pity for the fish, waiting to be slaughter, and be eaten by people just to satisfy people hunger. I still eat meat, but I just felt very sorry for the fish to watch the fish die like this. Waiting for people to pick which one is the fresh one, and eat it.... so I skip that dish, and let my friends eat my portion.

By the time the meeting finish, it was very late, and my friend did bring us to roam around the Bintulu Town one round, so I quickly take this opportunity to take some pictures. Here is me at the Chinese Temple. That night, most of my friends had stomach ache. I'm the one who is ok, I'm been thinking, is it the fish... hm... cheers, Wilson

This homestay provided a variety of tour packages, they have a daytrip tour, and also an overnight tour package (A total of 6 to be exact).

The food there is super delicious, the father told us the he made the food aroma with local herb and spices, and blend them by using traditional way. All organic, no pesticide. And he also charge us RM5 per plate of food, that is damn cheap!!!

Check out the surrounding in my video below :)

Dinner @ Gaya Seafood Restaurant

First Day at Kota Kinabalu was fantastic, and we went for a place called Gaya Seafood restaurant for dinner. When at Sabah, my brother keep on reminding us that we the seafood is a must have in our menu.

DSC_0001

It was a huge restaurant, and just beside the restaurant is a building specially for gambling slot machines.

DSC_0002

L-R: Jason, Ah Hee, Kerry, Mum and Dad.

DSC_0003

I don’t like seafood, only ate a little bit. So I ate almost 80% of the bean curd.

DSC_0004

And ate most of the vegetable as well, and I’m slowly learning to become a vegetarian now.

DSC_0005

We had this delicious fried rice instead of normal white rice. I didn’t eat the shell food, it looks discussing.

DSC_0006

My brother keep on asking me to try the lobster, so I had one.
Overall our total bill came out not more than RM150, and this is not what we expected. It should be more than that, but hey, Sabah is loaded with seafood.

My brother was happy about that, but next time I would prefer we all go for vegetarian.

Cheers,
Wilson
Don’t like seafood…

The Race to Durian Mountain @ Kampung Pandak

My friends called me up, say will drive me to a special place for photography, and eat some durian. I wait them at the selected place, and after half an hour they’re still not here. I was getting sleepy, and start to fall asleep, and suddenly my phone rang. Yep, it was them. I hop into my friend’s car together with my D90.

We wait for another group of friends on our way to Santubong, my friend told me that we will be going to Kampung Pandak. Is the place where most of the durian sellers get their durian from. It is a durian manufacture factory :S I don’t really crave for durian. But if there are a lot of friends eating together, the taste will be nicer.

durian_04

*sign* I’m a bit disappointed cause I tough I can go to the sea, to take some photos. But in the end I guess we all have to squad beside the road eating durians. While sitting inside the car, I close my eyes to rest for a while. The car bounces a lot, which I can’t rest properly. I saw my friend make a left turn, follow by a left turn again, the road become narrow and narrower. “What is this place?” I asked. “We’re here.” My friend said.

durian_08

After I realize, we’re surrounded by trees, and not the ordinary rainforest trees, but a whole mountain of durian trees. I surprise to see that there are so many trees around here. My friends are all durian lover, and I can’t imagine how long they’re going to stay here.

My friend drive slowly trying to look for a place describe by all the backseat passenger. “Is here, no is there, opss no I think is here…” direction keep on changing. That time I check my mobile for signal just in case if I’m really lost at least I can call U right :P.

Finally we’re there, we drive up a small hill. The owner from one of the land was outside his house, he was picking leafs which cover around the durian fruits. He look quite friendly, but always with a cigarette in his mouth.

durian_01

It seems like my friends and the owner know each others. We told the owner that we wanted to climb the durian mount to see if there’s any leftover durian :D he reply with half of his mouth open (because of the cigerate), “You guys did wear long sleeve? Should wear, many mosquito.”, and “pretty girl like you should wear a pairs of boots, the rocks are sharp up there”.

durian_05

durian_07

The chubby old man then lend us two pairs of boots, one straw hat, one basket to put in the durian. So the race is on, the owner said we can keep what we found on the hill. OMG! This ah pek is nice. Without second tough, off we go to the durian mount. Along the way, at first some of the girls complain why no durians, but after we found one, then comes the second, and third, and more.

durian_09

durian_10

Going up the hill is not an easy job, there’s a lot of rocks along the way. And have to pay extra attention when going up the hill, with just one slip it may not kill you, but it will definitely hurt badly. They just can’t wait much longer, so we all stop to rest, and EAT :D

durian_11

durian_12

durian_13

They are unbelievable, we didn’t bring knife to open durian, guess what they use?? Their car key :S
And some of them use hand only, I have tested some and the taste is nice. So we all ate one, then second one, then third, and lost count.

durian_16

durian_18

The view on top of the hill is magnificent, we don’t found much on the hill top. So we start to going back to the small house. When we reach the house, we continue eat again. This time is on the chubby old uncle, he just keep on open the durians and told us to eat. Some of my friends volunteer to work for him when the next durian session comes. They enjoy the fun of looking for durians :D

durian_15

durian_17

Good time pass by fast, we all went back with a stomach full of durians, and also with lots of durian to bring back home. We bid farewell to the owner, and will see him next durian session.
